Tiled Match has a wonderfully short learning curve — most players are clearing boards within the first minute. But knowing a few fundamentals from the start means fewer frustrated near-misses and more of that clean-board satisfaction. Here's what you need to know.
The board is filled with tiles, each carrying a symbol or image. Tap any tile to pick it up and move it to your collection tray at the bottom of the screen. Once you have three identical tiles in the tray, they automatically clear. Your goal is to clear every tile on the board before your tray fills up completely.
The tray holds seven slots. If all seven fill up without a matching triple, the game ends. Before tapping a new tile, glance at the tray and ask: does picking this up bring me closer to a triple, or am I just adding clutter? Prioritise tiles that give you an immediate or near-immediate match.
Many tiles start face-down or stacked under others. Clearing a surface tile uncovers what's beneath, opening up new matches. When you're stuck, look for spots where a single tap reveals a cluster — you'll often unlock two or three new matching opportunities at once.
New players tend to work toward the centre of the board, but tiles along the edges are often the ones blocking the most others. Clearing an edge tile can free up a whole column or row, giving you far more options on your next move.
Hints are there for a reason. If you've scanned the board and can't see a safe move, use one — it's better than a desperate tap that blocks your tray. Save your hint supply for the later, denser levels where every move matters more.
That's all you need to get started. The best way to improve is simply to play — patterns start clicking naturally after a few boards. Download Tiled Match and start clearing.
